You Must Ask Questions During Interview, Why?

Job interview is an interactive process. It is perfectly fine for you to ask questions. Usually the employer will provide you an opportunity to ask questions near or at the end of the interview. Can you ask questions before the end of the session? Definitely yes! But always ask permission from the interviewers to ask the first couple of questions, and read his or her response. If the interviewer is showing sign of discomfort, back off! If asking questions is comfortable to the interviewer, you have established a 2-way flow.

Always prepare your questions to ask ahead of time. Asking targeted, intelligent, well-crafted and concise questions during an interview can help to send several messages to the interviewers:
  • Asking wise questions illustrates the extent of your preparation and knowledge of the company. It shows the interviewers that you know about the job, and it helps to match your experience and skills with the company’s need.
  • Having no question to ask may proclaim that you have no independent thought process or you are not interested in the job.

Tips on types of questions to ask:
You can ask questions during an interview to seek clarification and alignment.
  • You can question on something that you are interested to know.
  • You can seek clarification or you can ask for additional information on something already been discussed during the course of the interview.
  • Avoid asking questions where the answers can be easily available from the internet.
  • Don’t touch on remuneration subject unless it is first brought up by the interviewer.
