You Must Ask Questions During Interview, Why?

Job interview is an interactive process. It is perfectly fine for you to raise any questions to the hiring manager. Usually the employer will provide you a chance to seek clarification near, or at the end of the meeting. But, can you request any information before the end of the session?

Absolutely yes! But always get permission from the interviewers when asking your first couple of questions, and then read his or her response. If the employer is showing some sign of discomfort, back off! If it is comfortable to him or her, you have established a 2-way communication flow.

Always prepare your questions ahead of time. Raising targeted, intelligent, well-crafted and concise questions during an interview can help to send several important messages to the recruiting personnel:

  • Asking wise question illustrates the extent of your preparation and knowledge of the company. It shows the interviewers that you know about the job, and it helps them to match your experience and skills with the company’s need.
  • Not having anything to inquire may indicate that you have no independent thought, or you are not interested in the job and the company.

Here are the things you can ask. You can pose questions to seek clarification and alignment such as

  • inquire something that you are interested to know.
  • seek clarification or ask for additional information on topics which have already been discussed during the course of the meeting.

However, you should avoid raising subjects where the answers can be easily available on the internet, and don’t touch on remuneration topic unless it is first brought up by the employer.
